Liminal Lexicon: Entry 10 — Agentic Intelligence
When Tools Begin to Pursue Goals
Liminal Lexicon: Words surfacing between eras, machines, and minds ~ terms that define the AI Age. A new entry drops every Monday for your intellectual and auditory pleasure. Thank you for being here, for hearting, sharing, and subscribing.

Today’s Liminal Lexicon is:
Agentic Intelligence
/ay-JEN-tik in-TEL-uh-jens/
A form of artificial intelligence designed not just to answer questions, but to pursue goals and take actions autonomously.
Reflection 🪞
We are entering an era where our digital world is populated not just by information ~ but by goal-directed processes working quietly in the background.
Instead of waiting for prompts, agentic systems can plan steps, use tools, and execute tasks in order to accomplish an objective.
Some early examples already exist in everyday life. 🦞
People are experimenting with agents powered by systems like Claude, sometimes connected to tools like Obsidian, to help manage things like:
• planning homeschool lessons, scanning in all the physical tools at their disposal
• organizing research notes
• generating design ideas or files that can be used in 3D printing workflows
• generating grocery lists and meal plans ~ setting it up so you just approve and get it delivered or do pick up
• coordinating everyday life tasks, and so much more
We are also beginning to see the rise of AI agents designed to manage communication itself. A new example is Hawkmail from Polsia, an AI inbox agent that can triage messages, summarize newsletters, flag urgent items, and even draft replies in your voice while surfacing only what truly needs your attention. Soon, we will be sunsetting email altogether.
Rather than simply asking AI a question, the user gives the system a goal.
The AI then figures out how to complete it.
In this way, AI begins to shift from tool to something closer to a digital collaborator.
These are incredibly exciting times! I see lots of people on X talking about all the agents they have and the cool things they are doing.
I’m not entirely stoked about the idea of AI having access to things like a debit/credit card, but if you had one just for its allowance to do things on your behalf, that could be cool.
Invitation 💌
Let me know your thoughts! If you had a personal AI agent helping run part of your life what would you ask it to manage for you?
🌅 Wishing you a beautiful week. Catch ya Monday next! :] ❤️🔥

If you're open to sharing your handle on X, I would love to follow you!
